One of those techniques was by using NURBS curves to easily draw what we wanted on to the Maya interface. Our task was to make a table, a cloth, fruit bowl and a piece of fruit for the week. Here is what I come up with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P.S. I failed to put a fruit bowl and fruit onto the table but it&#8217;s to reflect my progress so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-larger-font-size\"><strong>The Basics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/benstead-2020.hulldesign.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Capture.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I know this isn&#8217;t a round table, but I wanted to flex my newfound extruding knowledge and edge loops to create a basic rectangular table to insert my cloth on.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/benstead-2020.hulldesign.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Capture2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The two supports needed for my table.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/benstead-2020.hulldesign.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Capture3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22\" style=\"width:247px;height:207px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I added a flat surface on top to make it look like a table.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-larger-font-size\"><strong>The Cloth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/benstead-2020.hulldesign.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Capture4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I selected another poly and hovered it above the table, making sure it is thin as a possible and it aligns with the center of the table perfectly.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/benstead-2020.hulldesign.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Capture1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I switched to FX and selected the nCloth tool in the toolbar. The image is a bad result, but we can fix that.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/benstead-2020.hulldesign.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Capture6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I looked in the object&#8217;s Channel Box and saw these subdivision options. Just in case, I set all to 50 to give me more edge loops on the polygon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/benstead-2020.hulldesign.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Capture5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">It turned this square from around 12 polys to over 100.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/benstead-2020.hulldesign.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Capture2-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The results are much better, although I still need to improve aligning the cloth perfectly to stop it falling off the table.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Week 2&#8242; activity with Jason and Tom required us to look at different ways to model curved shapes such as a round table.
