This week, we were put into a group in the context of producing a video game for the module. I was put into Group F along with Max Osbourne, Jack Bennett, Anthony Brown, Kameron Stephenson, Ben Oldcorn and Shane Bowman, albeit Kameron and Ben were absent and Shane left the course. The first thing to do was to come up with a team name, and we unanimously settled on ‘F To Pay Respects’, named after a well known line in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

We were tasked with thinking of ideas that we can produce in order for it to support our game-making skills. As a group, we have decided to settle on a walking simulator with a horror theme. The whole game was going to be 3D too, as the group has more 3D modelers than 2D Artists and scripters combined, me included. I have volunteered myself to produce an asset list of all of the different assets included in the game. But before that, I had to put together images of our chosen setting of an abandoned hospital to support the idea generation of the final game. Here are the images.

Here is one room of an abandoned hospital room filled with medical tools and equipment. The way these are models kind of wants me to recreate the assets in Maya if needs be.

A patient ward filled with beds and mattresses. Notice how the assets have dirt and grime painted onto them. This is a feature that I am hoping to replicate in Substance to get that accurate representation.

I wanted to get a image of what a hallway of an abandoned hospital would look like in all of its eeriness and disarray. The dirt, dust and other objects strewn across the corridor gives this a spooky feel when in conjunction with most of the broken lights and half-shut doors. This is a note for me to replicate within the game.

Another hospital hallway, but this the emphasis is more focused on the worn out walls that border the corridor. The detail here is that the plaster is starting to loosen, with the wall-mounted clock also looking like it’s about to fall off. Altogether, this a is a nice little addition and hope to include any features that I would see here.
My next objective was to include a quick, rough asset list including items you would typically find in an abandoned hospital setting, like hospital beds, wheelchairs and medical trays with instruments like syringes and tubes. I also included a ceiling light connected by a movable pole-like structure and ward beds complete with mattress, duvets and pillows to be as accurate as I could. I then saved the word document and uploaded it to the teams’ Files section in Teams. Here it is.

My hopes is that everybody will have a different reference image of the assets within the list and model them based on those images. I will also do the same for consistency. But when the team leader will ask for any assets to be consistent in quality, me and the other 3D modelers could always upload the Maya folders onto Teams and each look through them to consider which are the best ones to put in the game
