

Here is how I followed through with creating a custom material with the LayerBlend, Constant and Landscape Coords nodes. I also added a Landscape Visibility Mask as a sort of experimentation to make holes with the intention of making a nice little cave that the player can enter, but in reality it just paints a hole in the landscape and nothing else.

As you can see, I placed a landmark for the player upon starting the level, emphasizing the framing of said level.

The exponential height fog allows me to make the landscape foggy and almost feel kind of mystical and eerie in some way.

I have also placed a lake nearby as decoration.

Here is what the area looks like from above the foliage. Pretty impressive, huh?

I also enhanced the landmarks height and changed its colour to make it more interesting.
